Success
W
hat is your definition of success?
The vast majority of people are striving for success. But the vast majority of people have not expressly defined success for themselves. We can rationally conclude, therefore, that the vast majority of people don’t know what the hell they’re striving for. But they’re striving.
Society’s fuzzy definition of success involves externals, namely wealth and social status. You’re meant to acquire more stuff than you could possibly use, and entice or hector other people into worshipping you like a god.
Does anything about that definition of success seem healthy to you?
Success based on externals is incredibly difficult to attain, because our simplistic notions of wealth and fame are not realistic. But the real kicker is that such success, even if you manage to attain it, does not actually provide sustainable happiness.
Externals cannot make you happy.
